Document Summary
What will we be measuring: health related physical fitness, physical activity, physical activity environment. Health related includes the components of physical fitness that have a relationship to good health. Sport/skill related includes specialized components such as agility, speed, power, balance, coordination, and reaction time: balance we start measuring with older adults, because we start worrying about falls. What are dvs: iv thermal and exercise, dv- cardio vascular. Types of studies: quantitative vs. qualitative, quant statistics, #"s change all of your info into numbers. Experiment: observation , experiment in certain cases we cannot do experiments i. e. , smoking you can"t force someone to smoke (unethical) because if they do get cancer well they"re going to be pissed. Establishment of causation: theoretical framework, sometimes things are very theoretical i. e. , psychological, appropriate participants, sound design, actually measuring the things you need to, select and control independent variables, appropriate dependent measures, outcome, correct statistics, correct interpretation of results.
