A bright canary-yellow fire truck was stolen from the baton rouge fire station at 7720. Avonwood drive tuesday night while the firefighters inside were sleeping. The theft occurred sometime between midnight and 6 a. m. The truck costs ,000 and has only been at the station for three months. The 12 firefighters sleeping in the station, unlocked at the time, did not hear any unusual sounds while they were sleeping. They suspect the truck was either pushed or towed out of the station before the engine was started. The keys were in the ignition to shorten the response time of the firefighters. The truck was carrying clothing for six firefighters, 12 oxygen tanks, 1,000 feet of hose, four ladders and other equipment.
