Pns (nerves connecting cns to muscles, organs, and skin motor and sensory nerves: somatic = somatosensory and skeletal motor + cranial and spinal nerves, autonomic = glands and organs + sympathetic and parasympathetic. Afferent sensory receptors to cns: feelings - affective, back half of brain. Efferent out of cns to muscles/organs: cause an effect in the muscles (effort, front half of brain, decision makers. Ventral/ inferior belly: ventral brain = bottom of brain b/c refer to animals on all 4s. Use sections to understand 3 dimensionality of the brain. Meninges 3 layers in cns / 2 layers in pns (no dura) Dura: durable, thick, leather-like: attach to inner layer of skull and arachnoid (2 layers, job to protect brain, superior sagittal sinus = vein to drain blood. Veins of brain made of dura so they do not collapse because we stand upright. If vein erupted it would erupt, clog, and stop backflow.
