Document Summary

Schemas:mental patterns (ways of thinking) that children form at each stage of development. Each of the four stages is characterized by a new set of schemas. Assimilation: the process through which a new experience is placed into an existing schema. You see a different dog at the, you realize it"s a dog. Accomodation: the process through which a schema is adapted or expanded to incorporate a new experience. You go to a farm, see a goat and you think it"s a dog bc it has 4 legs but barks so you know it"s not a dog. You uncle tells you it"s a goat so now you know it"s a goat! Children at this stage experience the world through sense and actions. Intelligence consists of motor actions toward objects and sensory feedback gained from those actions. Sucking reflect goes through processes of assimilation (same sucking concept) and accommodation(moving on to big girl cup!)
