Document Summary

This is a basic outline to get your started. I would recommend reviewing the slides presented in class as well as your book. Since we will be covering the muscles and bones of specific areas of the body in detail as the semester progresses we will only need to know a few for this first test. Be able to identify the following and speak to thei(cid:396) lo(cid:272)atio(cid:374), a(cid:272)tio(cid:374) (cid:894)like fle(cid:454)io(cid:374), e(cid:454)te(cid:374)sio(cid:374), i(cid:374)te(cid:396)(cid:374)al (cid:396)otatio(cid:374), if it"s a joi(cid:374)t, o(cid:396) diffe(cid:396)e(cid:374)t t(cid:455)pes of muscle action), and origin and insertion in the case of muscles. They are biceps, triceps, gastrocnemius, soleus, quadriceps, biceps femoris, latissimus dorsi, pectoralis major, radius, ulna, femur, humerus, tibia, fibula, calcaneus, clavicle, and scapula. Note that for bones you will not need to know specific parts of them yet (like tubercles, trochanters, grooves, fossa, etc. ). You will need to know shared characteristics and how growth occurs (diaphysis, epiphysis, osteoclasts/blasts).
