Also, if virtue can be taught, then the son of virtuous men must be virtuous. Protagoras"s counterarguments: athenians listen to everyone because justice only works when everyone is just. (everyone claims to be just). Thus, everyone has a share in justice , so there"s no expert. Also, people punish wrongdoers to prevent them from repeating the crime, by teaching them through practice and training and teaching. Moreover, everybody is a teacher of virtue, because they benefit from each other. Prota~ thinks that virtue can be taught thru habituation. The law is a guideline to make people virtuous. Why does he answer the way he does? (that is, why is this a reasonable way for him to answer, given what he has said in his great speech ?)
