Also originally a nation, but was destroyed by rome. For 2,000 years, had no homeland, so jewish communities spread across the world. Sephardic - spain, southern europe and middle eastern countries. Sets of laws that express god"s will to jewish people. Extensive lists of things like how to prepare food, what food is acceptable, how to give to charity, etc. Commentary on torah is found in the talmud. This is important because the key difference has to do with their interpretation of the laws. Orthodox - laws represent god"s will and communication to jews. People do not have the right to mess with them. Reform - moral underpinnings of the laws are valid and important.
