Document Summary

Since o is really electronegativity, the electrons shared from the covalent bond spend more time with the o nucleus making it more negative and making the h nucleus positive. This difference in pressures forms a hydrogen bond. Describe why solid h2o is less dense than liquid h2o. Ice is less dense than water because water molecules in ice form a crystal- like lattice letting it float. Ionic bonds(nacl)- metals with nonmetals that create full charges where one element is positive and the other is negative. Polar covalent bonds(h2o)- nonmetals that have partials charges where there"s sharing but one is slightly more electronegative. Nonpolar covalent bonds(h2)- a combination of the same elements or elements that create no charge because the electrons are shared equally. Hydrophobic- repels water; the tails of a phospholipid. Hydrophilic- attracts water; the head of a phospholipid. Define a mole and know the relationship between a mole and avogadro"s number.
