A person in a poor neighborhood may find that they are making much more money by dealing drugs as opposed to working at a fast food restaurant where they are being paid minimum wage. People need opportunities through educational improvement and full employment. States that social structures within society may pressure citizens to commit crime. Strain occurs when society does not provide the means to achieve the goals a culture considers desirable. Young people are bombarded with images of desirable consumer objects but have no means to obtain them.
