Audiology: originated after ww2 by ray carhart and norton canfield to describe noise induced hearing loss and the need for rehabilitation. Defines csd as a single discipline with three separate profession. Developed certification standards for both professions, accredits academic program and maintains a code of ethics. Assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent speech, language, cognitive, communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and other realted disorders. Asha adopted the title speech- language pathologist in 1976.
