In lieu of class meetings on november 2nd (monday) and november 4th (wednesday), you are to carry out two out-of-classroom exercises/assignments/exams. Assignments on blackboard but, unlike the regular assignments, these will be graded, and you will not be able to change your answers after you submit each one. My intent here is to have you go look at rocks that make up parts of two su campus buildings; to answer some straightforward questions about their compositions (mineralogy) and textures. In addition, each has a clue" phrase that you can take to the internet in order to find out more about these interesting rocks. The exercises/assignments/exams are not due until the end of the term (december 17th), but you can turn them (blackboard) in any time. Each of the two exercises/assignments/exams will have 10 questions; each question is worth 4 points; therefore, each exercise/assignment/exam is equivalent to one 40-point assignment.
