In order for bioremediation to be effective . Chemistry of the contaminants must be understood. Understanding of biological/chemical/engineering/biotechnology approaches should be combined. Microbial ecology and biochemistry should be understood. Resource conservation and recovery act (rcra) is one of the acts that needs to be followed in order for effective bioremediation. Tce = trichloroethylene is an environmental contaminant, known to be a halogenated voc. Halocarbon commonly used as an industrial solvent. Plume - gradient of a contaminant that is able to move from one place to another. Vapor - a substance diffused/ suspended in the air, especially one normally liquid or solid. Most solid waste is disposed of, but some is treated or recovered for materials and energy. Some is just stored away in disposal wells underground. Getting rid of the waste involves taking care of it properly. Resource conservation and recovery act (rcra) 1976. Different from cwa and caa in that it"s not an end of pipe regulation.
