Holism helps anthropology be exactly what it is. There are 4 subtopics: archeology, the study of prehistoric artifacts in order to learn pre-historic values or culture of humans. This helps study the evolution of culture: linguistic anthropology, the study of human language, communication, and many other aspects of language. This includes the mechanics of language, the origin of language, and the societal/political uses of language: cultural anthropology, the study of traditions and beliefs and how they relate to behavior.
