What is biopsychology: origins of biopsychology come from different perspectives, some examples, philosophy - how brain in uences behavior, studies of brain damage, evolutionary theory, genetics. The brain and the mind: rene descartes (mind - brain interface, ventricular system, fluid movements control our other parts of our body control, dualism: the mind and the body are different and exist independently. Good at identifying location cognitive function: eeg - surface electro activity. Neuro events that are locks with environmental stimuli: test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small, at metal discs (electrodes) attached to your scalp. Classic examples of brain damage: phineas gage - damage of orbitofrontal cortex - change in personality & problems with self- control. This broached the idea that complex behaviors/traits could reside in speci c brain areas.
