Force platform: 3d bathroom scale, newton"s 3rd law. Indirect calorimetry shows how much work/efficiency of work/amount of energy burning. Velocity is the time derivative in position, acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. The first one is a scalar, the second are vectors.
