Document Summary

Why learn biopsychology? (why are you here?: to be a smarter (and more skeptical) consumer of media, fictitious studies, undergrad students were asked to look at studies with a base of skepticism. For example: watching tv is related to math ability: watching television and completing arithmetic problems led to similar levels of temporal lobe activation. Some students were given a bar graph and others were given a brain image. Despite the study being clearly incorrect, the students who were given the brain image were more likely to think that the study was real in comparison to those given the bar graph. For the constant barrage of fun facts: to develop an appreciation for neuroscience research, to occasionally get distracted by how unbelievably amazing your brain is. Fine - to meet a prereq (but at least consider why it"s a prerequisite)
