PHL 100 Study Guide - Midterm Guide: Cosmological Argument, Sophist, Ontological Argument
Document Summary
Phl 100. 003, spring 2009: review for exam 1. Disclaimers: i provide this review sheet as a study aid, but i offer no guarantees. The exam might contain questions that do not fall under the topics listed here, and some of the topics listed here might not be covered by an exam question. I may revise this review sheet slightly prior to the exam. Note about argues": smith argues that p means that smith offers an argument intended to establish p. it does. Not mean that smith disputes p. for example, anselm argues that god exists means that anselm gives an argument for the existence of god. It does not mean that anselm disputes god"s existence. Bear this in mind for all exams in this class. Note about arguments: you should understand the arguments well enough so that, for example, you can identify whether a claim is a premise of the argument, its conclusion, or neither.
