Sally suspected that her friend Amanda was being trafficked and presented a set of indicators to
the investigator. According to her indicators listed below which one was the strongest indicator?
a. Amanda has signs of physical abuse all over her body.
b. She was not getting paid for her job that she failed to mention a description for.
c. She is restricted in terms of where she can go and for a limited time span.
d. Her work contract had no exact guideline about pay, working hours or benefits.
e. Both a. and c.
Pg. 647 & According to the European Union, they came out with several different indicators that
a person is being trafficked. Strong indicators that are listed are clear signs of violence against
the person being trafficked, having been constantly monitored and having limitation placed on
the victim. Option d. and b. are weak indicators because they are vague and would not raise
concerns immediately towards the issue of them being trafficked as efficiently as the strong
indicators would.
When is a company responsible for being involved in the process of supporting human
trafficking?
a. They are taking advantage of the cheap labor that is being offered by the contracting
company.
b. The contracting company used a contract that failed to state that they they have trafficked
persons in their labor system that may be recorded separately from the other laborers that are
not trafficked.
c. When the contracting company has lied about meeting the guidelines of standard labor
conditions.
d. Manufacturing company did not state the basic labor conditions that need to be met to the
contracting company in their contract.
Pg. 652 & Option a. is the best answer because if the company is aware of the trafficked persons
due to the high cheap labor they are supporting the use of cheap labor carried out by trafficked
persons. They are directly held responsible for a crime that is being carried out by the contracting
company because they are directly benefitting from it. Options b. and c. are all options that the
manufacturing company cannot control and it is up to the contracting company to indicate them.
Option d. is up to the manufacturing company to mention in their contract and makes them
responsible, however option a. makes them directly responsible.
What can a manufacturer do to reduce its likelihood of having trafficked persons producing
products for their company?
a. Hire only certain independent contractors that seem reliable because other big companies are
using them.
b. Establish clear contracts with contracting companies stating they will not work with
contractors who use trafficked persons.
c. They pick the contractors that have the cheapest labor.
d. Creating a contract that defines the labor standards that the manufacturer requires the
contracting company to have.
e. Both b. and d.

Pg. 658 & Option e is correct because the article mentions that manufacturers can reduce their
liability by efficiently checking if their contactors are using trafficked labor through the use of
clear contracts and stating labor standards. The contract must clearly state that they will not use
and do not tolerate trafficked labor and the labor standards state the conditions and the pay that
labors should have. Option a. is wrong as some big companies feed of cheap labor and increase
the demand for cheap labor hence it would not be reliable to follow other big companies. Option
c. is wrong because most likely cheap labor indicated that they are using trafficked workers.
Which is not a factor that contributes to companies knowing that their contract companies are
using trafficked laborers?
a. Contracting companies failing to tell manufacturer companies that they use trafficked
laborers.
b. Contracting companies have been accused of using trafficked laborers.
c. The section of laborers that used to fall under the company are then pulled away from other
laborers that work under the standard laborer conditions and considered separate as they are
trafficked.
d. Visa documents are signed and taken under by the company that finds the laborers rather
than the contracting company that then employs them.
Pg.662 & The answer is option a. because contracting companies will not directly tell
manufacturing companies that they use trafficked laborers as companies will back out because
they become liable. Contracting companies will find other ways to hide the fact they use
trafficked labors by not making them part of their laborer structure or handling visa paper work
of the trafficked persons. Option b., c. and d. are all factors that if apparent companies will have
knowledge that their labor consists of trafficked persons.
Sally was trafficked and then later found at a bus station alone beaten up and scared. Which of
the following would you not do when you approach her?
a. Do not judge them and treat them with respect.
b. Treat them as a victim and not as an offender especially those found as prostitutes.
c. Ask them questions to find out what happened and take them directly to the station no
matter what they say.
d. Explain to them the exact steps as to what you are going to do to help them.
PowerPoint (How to interact with trauma informed approach) & Answer c. is the correct answer
because when you ask the victims too many questions they get overwhelmed and after the
trauma they have been through sitting in silence is the most helpful. Taking them to another
place without permission is showing a lack of respect of their opinion which is is the last thing a
victim would want after being disregarded by their trafficker. Options a., b. and d. all aid in
respecting the victim and help them get the courage to come with you and seek help.
What characteristics in a person make them the most vulnerable to be trafficked?
a. A child whose parents pay very little to no attention them.
b. A child who is going through their rebellious teenager years.
c. An adult who is being abused by their husband.
