Document Summary

Kinetic energy - energy associated with motion. When the speed is constant than the force is zero, thus the network is zero. Net work done on a object is zero than the ke is conserved. Positive work increases the ke = speed up the object. Negative work decreases the ke = slows down the object. When force is applied, an object can either accelerate or decelerate. The work done by a constant force acting in the same direction as the displacement. If the force moves above or below the x and y direction. When 90 < <180 , cos is negative, and so the work done is negative. 0 < <90 , cos is positive, and so the work done is posit. Examples of no work: holding a book in the air = no work, sitting still in a chair= gravity does no work, if you lean on a wall and the wall does not move = no work.
