Portfolio: a collection of observational records and work samples for one child that reflect developmental growth, usually kept for one year. A record keeping system: for portfolios is a specific procedure, used to organize the selected samples of children"s work and the many observations and documentations of learning activities written by the teacher throughout the year. An organized system act as a frame in which to assemble the developmental puzzle pieces for each child. There are three possible storage methods: card file box, file folder case, notebook. Papers are loose in each file takes time to file using rings. Less durable than other two cannot store oversized work samples. Cannot fit other observational records in file box. Parent conferences: are scheduled appointments for teachers and family members to share their support of and concerns about the growth of these family"s children. The teacher plays a key role in the development of the partnership.
