The effect of glaciers on land forms. Lots of europe was glaciated at around the same time the united. Runs from russia southward to the atlantic. Many rivers flowing downhill into these lowlands. This provides very good soil and strong agriculture. The problem is there is nice volcanic soil, but there are still active volcanoes which cause the issue. Continental to extreme maritime effects (north atlantic drift/gulf stream): Warm current running across the western european countries. Warmer; typically find ports here ships can use year-round. High pressure cell from africa moves up in the summer time and migrates south in the winter. Especially around the north sea, the netherlands, and the polars. Countries with not much elevation are especially susceptible to water rising and flooding. They burn a lot of black coal/dirty coal which leads to this. When sewage plants shut down, the pollution goes straight into the mediterranean.
