CGSC170 Study Guide - Quiz Guide: Latent Learning, Operant Conditioning Chamber, Edward C. Tolman
Document Summary
1930 (edward tolman was a behaviorist psychologist ) He assumed that all learning is a result of conditioning. And conditioning was dependent upon the processes of association and reinforcement. Rat gets a reward for behaving in a certain way so that every time it performs it gets a reward. Association between the behavior and reward is strengthened and the prediction that he will perform again is more likely. Humans can produce and understand novel utterances. Any given stimulus can produce a number of linguistic response. Tolman and honzik wanted to know more about how rats learned. Separated 3 groups of rats through a maze. Rewarded every time they successfully ran the maze. Unrewarded for first 10 days and then was rewarded. When rewarded, they quickly learnt how to run the maze. When group 3 began to get rewards, they learnt the maze much faster than group 1.
