The 6th of erikson"s eight stages of development adults seek someone with whom to share their lives in an enduring and self-sacrificing commitment. Without such commitment, they risk profound aloneness and isolation. Arises from the powerful desire to share one"s personal life with someone else. The (cid:498)happiness bump(cid:499): emotions run high in early adulthood and most adults report their happiest memories during their mid-20s. experiences, and our resources through intimate friends and lovers: loneliness, self-absorption. Lots of freedom to learn, explore, make friends, fall in love, take a job, travel, etc. If a person is going to make a mark, it will probably happen between 18 and 25. Family obligations are minimal because most at this age have no spouse, children, etc. People tend to make more friends in this stage of life than any other one, and the use of technology to deepen friendships. Internet users tend to have face-to-face friends than do nonusers.
