Lawson s definition of design: design is a process & can be seen as a negotiation between problems and solutions. Analysis (exploring relationships, ordering & structuring, objectives) + Synthesis (ideation, attempt to create a response to problem) + Evaluation (critical appraisal of suggested solutions) feed back loop.
