Define criminal justice law enforcement, courts, corrections. Causation: beyond a reasonable doubt**, potential outcomes, guilty, acquittal, jury nullification, sentencing discretion/power and options, judge has sentencing power, but they don"t have as much discretion as they used to. Role of different actors in the court: prosecution, defense, juries, judges. Different types of courts: specialized courts, federal v. state which court has jurisdiction is based on what laws were violated, criminal v. civil. Court jurisdiction: most common type of court is limited jurisdiction.
