Document Summary

The relationship between f critical and f obtained: The p value and f obtained go together. The region of significance is anything bigger than f critical. F statistic is always positively skewed because of sums of squares. Shapes of distribution varies because of degrees of freedom. The anova formula: difference between groups/(variability within/between groups). Taking what you expect to happen by chance instead of what actually happened the further we get, the more possibility there is a real reason. The more discrepancy between columns, the more chance there is a real relationship. Differences within groups is comparing numbers in each group. If we have an independent variable, we can better predict out dependent variable than if we were just predicting one variable alone. Spurious relationship: ice cream sales and juvenile crime. In order to say something caused something else: There can be no c no other variable that can explain the relationship.
