Class Contribution 30%:
Be prepared for both the readings and cases for each class.
Review questions and come up with recommendations.
Engage and be attentive.
Strategy Project 10%:
In groups of 3-4. Pick a company to analyze and write a short paper.
Do a 5 forces analysis, identify potential threats and opportunities
Must support conclusions with analysis.
Recommend strategic actions to address threats/opportunities
Format: 3 pages, single spaced, 11pt font.
Due February 8th by Midnight. Will not be meeting that week in class. Class time will be
used to work on project. Submit on BB.
Balanced Score-card Simulation 10%:
Group game simulating the implementation of a chosen strategy using a balanced
scorecard approach.
3-4 People. Groups are listed on BB.
Simulation will be played during regular class time.
Prior to class: read case and meet with team
In class (March 27): Play the simulation
De-Brief (March 29): Come prepared to discuss your strategy, initiatives and
performance.
Grade: 40% Simulation Performance. 60% Individual reflection quiz. Quiz is due
by the start of the next class period.
Innovation Simulation 10%:
Individual game simulating innovation investment decisions, given a dynamic, and
potentially disruptive, industry environment.
Played on your own outside of class.
Prior to class: Practice before class. Read case material.
In class (April 17): Play and replay simulation
De-Brief (April 19): Come prepared to discuss your strategy, initiatives and
performance.
