Separated from other people - fighting for own self interest. Conflict theory - lesser people in the domain create conflict for them. That things like sport would replace religion bc they would realize that they are worshiping their connectedness to society durkheim was wrong. All relationships and social change as characterized by conflict and inequality. Social elites as defining leisure (i. e. golf, sailing) How buying items in order to show off as a form of luxury instead of basic essentials or need. Serve as a site where deficit notions of people of color are challenged, and can help establish a more positive (collegiate) racial climate. False hope that every hard working player will make it to college level. Said everyday life is filled with ritual (not just special occasions)
