In her novel woolf shows a connection between freud"s theory of the. Oedipus complex and the relationship between james and his parents, mr. and mrs. Woolf uses the method of narration referred to as the stream of consciousness which gives the readers the opportunity to see beyond dialogue and plot to understand what goes on beneath the surface. The novel illustrates the connections between emotions and memories by showing them outright through the method of writing as a form of stream of consciousness instead of simply referring to it using literary figures and devices.
