Lecture #3 september 25: cronk v. canadian general insurance. Cronk wants 20 months" salary in compensation. Clerical employee with some minor administration duties. In other cases similar to this, plaintiffs that received 20 month salaries were senior managers. She was with company for 29 years. October 1978 /week as a clerk/assistant underwriter. Letter of termination was received for that date. Employer offered bi-weekly payments equal to 39 months" salary. To be reduced 50% if she found new employment. 24 weeks" pay was deposited and vacation pay. Cronk did not believe it was sufficient payment. Offer for 39 weeks" pay remained open. Too old to embark on any lengthy retraining. Her qualifications do not suggest she will have a quick and easy time finding a career to the defendant. Cronk did not try to add these 6 years in her employment number, she omitted them! This interruption does not whip out the first term of employment.
