Mood disorders: mood disorders major disturbances in emotion. Two types of mood disorders: depressive disorders. Persistent depressive disorder moderate depression that persists for two years or more. Major depressive disorder a mood disorder in which the person has suffered one or more intense episodes of depression: bipolar and related disorders. People"s emotion are all over the place, they can be happy and suddenly sad, and vice versa. Cyclothymic disorder moderate manic and depressive behaviour that persists for two years or more. Bipolar i disorder a mood disorder in which a person has episodes of mania (excited, hyperactive, energetic, grandiose behaviour) and also periods of deep depression. Bipolar ii disorder a mood disorder in which a person is mostly depressed (sad, despondent, guilt ridden) but also has had one or more episodes of mild mania (hypomania): causes of mood disorders.
