Parents must no treat baby x as a girl or a boy. Parents must take even turns caring for x (feeding, singing, playing) The first thing they asked was what kind of a baby x was. They all though it was a joke. Angry when they found out it was not a joke. Relatives felt embarrassed about having an x in the family. People will think there is something wrong with it they thought. There is something wrong with it they said. None of the relatives felt comfortable buying a present for baby x. Parents had to be extra careful about how they played with baby x. Problems when shopping for clothing and toys. Stores had clothing and toys labelled for boys and girls. Never make baby x feel embarrassed or ashamed about what it wants to play with. Strangers would get upset and be nasty when they found out baby was an x.
