Mandate of nyshn: to provide training, advocacy, program-creation, and curriculum development within the full spectrum of reproductive and sexual heath for indigenous peoples. Sexual health education and pleasure project (shepp) is partnered with the nyshn. Mission of shepp: to provide free, pleasure-based sexual health education workshops to youth and other marginalized communities. Shepp challenges conventional methods of sex education and looks to empower young people with practical esteem-building and pleasure-based information. In order to have true decolonization we need to claim our land, language, and people. Decolonizing sex education is intrinsic to those aims. We must move forward with a committed and concerted effort to critically examine where and how violence prevention, especially for aboriginal youth, intersects with comprehensive sex education in order to make decolonization a reality sexually and otherwise. Many children grow up not knowing the proper names for body parts.
