Reid model of interrogation: a nine-step model of interrogation used frequently in north america to extract confessions from suspect: was developed by john e. reid (from chicago, consists of three parts. First stage: gather evidence related to the crime and to interview witness and victims. Second stage: conduct a non-accusatorial interview(bia behavioral interview analysis) of the suspect to assess any evidence of deception. That is to determine if the suspect is being deceptive when he/she claims to be innocent. If the police thinks the suspect is lying he moves to the third stage. The third stage: conduct an accusatorial interrogation of the suspect if he or she is perceived to be guilty. ( the main purpose of this stage is to know how did they do it).
