Capacities remain: psychologists who view traits as internal dispositions do not equate traits with the external behaviour in question. For example, just behaviour: traits as internal causal properties present even if they are not expressed, traits as purely descriptive summaries, they make no assumptions of internality or causality, trait describes expressed behaviour. Most researchers use self-reports or reports from close friends and family: evaluation of the act frequency formulation, does not specify how much context should be included in the description of a trait-relevant act. If a specific act is repeated frequently, it becomes a habitual act the second row. Third level is habitual acts: biological underpinnings, heritability.
