Many depictions of crime that may unduly influence public opinion with respect to such issues as likelihood of being a victim of a crime, the most prevalent types of crime and the merits of rehabilitative efforts for offenders. Crime and criminal justice receive considerable media scruntiny sensational crimes receive front page billing and the public is inundated with facts, figures and opinions about what to do about crime and how to increase public safety. 44% of citizen believe that they should spend more money on the criminal justice system. Many politicians raise awareness by stating that they are going to get tough on crime. Criminal can come from psychological explanations and is interested in intra-individual differences- which is the variations in criminal conduct within an individual across time and situations. Inter-individual differences- variations in criminal conduct between individuals. Crime desistance- phenomenon of decreased criminal activity.
