Chapter 1&2 : big picture binary values and numbers. Computer are composed of two part the hardware which refers to the physical elements of a computing systems ( printers, circuit , board , wires) and the software which represents programs that provide instructions for the computer to execute. At this state, it is crucial to mention that we have 6 layer of computing which is information, hardware, programming, operating systems, application and communication layer. In computer science we use the terms integer to designate every positive and negative number and rational number to reflect every number that can be made by dividing two integers. Another concept to master also is the positional notation of number which is determined by the base (the number different digit symbol and the value of each digit position). 642 = 600 + 40+ 2 = 6x10^2 + 4x10^1 +2x10^0. Nb: for 10^4, 10 is the base and 4 indicates the position number.
