Can increase with training for 8-12 weeks
VO2 peak = highest VO2 level reached
VO2 linearly related to Cardiac Output
2 ways to look at it:
absolute – directly related to body size
useful for non-weight bearing activities (ex. Cycling)
relative – take weight into account
easier to compare between people
useful for weight bearing activities
both of these key for comparing VO2 levels between individuals based on
activities they are performing
