Document Summary

Independent variables are the factors of an experiments that are manipulated and is usually an environmental event or experience of some kind. Dependent variables are the measured factor of an experiment as it is affected by the different independent variables. A functional relationship is the connection between changes in the independent and dependent variables. A difference between average grade scored between each group would indicate that the study techniques have an influence on test performance: define stimulus and response. A stimulus is any event that can potentially influence behaviour. A response is a particular instance of a behaviour. Stimulus is a singular word and stimuli is a plural word: distinguish between overt and covert behavior, and between appetitive and aversive stimuli. Overt behaviour is behaviour that can potentially be observed by an individual other than the one performing the behaviour.
