The poor white is a product of the black economy. They would find a place in the ranks of the labouring class. He would not be able to do kaffir"s work. The poor whites are a class of people who are incapable of doing anything but rough manual labour. There are already indications that the competition of natives is reducing even skilled workmen to the condition of the poor whites. The natives possess all the qualities necessary for proficiency in the manual arts. There is no barrier to prevent competition between africans and poor whites. The slave economy is destroying the white race while it is developing the efficiency of the black race. There are degrees of colour prejudice in south. Those who are resigned to absorption of white in the black population. Who may be dismissed at once as unworthy members of a race whose fundamental characteristic is its instinctive combativeness fore permanence.
