Performance on all these tasks modestly correlates with other measures of intelligence. Correlation b/w simple paired-associative learning and iq test scores is rarely more than. 0. 2-0. 3: this implies that simple learning and memory tasks will probably not shed much light on the intelligence measured by iq tests. Lab tests of paired-associate learning or free recall have usually found only a rather weak relationship b/w intelligence measured by iq tests and associative learning ability. Underwood et al: results consistent with the first part of jensen"s conclusion, they took 33 different measures from learning tasks and the individual learning tasks seem to correlate only very modestly with iq. Thus: heavily weighted towards measures of scholastic achievement associate learning, free recall, and three-term contingency learning".
