Document Summary
Psychological assessment= a systematic gathering and evaluation of information pertaining to an individual with suspected abnormal behaviour. Carried out with a wide variety of techniques to appraise social, psychological and/or biological factors. Not a single score; its a series of scores placed within the context of the history, referral information, behavioural observations and life of an individual in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of that individual. A test is only a sample of behaviour: a tool to be used in this process of assessment. There"s a difference between testing and assessment. Eg. after taking a blood sample you need to integrate this info with other info (history, age. symptoms) Neuropsychological test used to asses the natural progression of a disorder. Assessment and research use similar methods or tools and thus deal with the same ymptom checklist used to formulate or gauge the success of treatment issues of reliability and validity.
