An investigation is set up to determine the motive, the extent of the damage caused and the number of victims involved, if any. Fires may be classified according to the type of combustible source involved. Depending on the source, a fire will display particular characteristics, such as intensity and duration and the method required to extinguish it will vary as a result. Arson: the intentional burning of a property- for vengeance, to defraud an insurance company, to harass someone, or due to pyromania etc. People who suffer from pyromania start fires to satisfy an urge that they cannot control and the affliction is classified as a mental disorder. The laws of many countries dictate that, even if the arsonist is unaware that a person is inside the building when the fire was started, the will be charged with murder. In arson cases, accelerants are frequently utilized to start the fire more rapidly.
