The author applies concepts from theories of structuration to examine the development. Mesoamerica, monumentality, structuration, architecture, formative period early (1100-700 bce) monumental archaeology in mesoamerica. The author asks pertaining to the architecture in mesoamerica from the time mentioned to analyze changes and improvements. One of the research objectives asked by the data is how do concepts from theories of structuration apply to the development of monumental archaeology in mesoamerica. Another is that archaeologists need to consider the agency of actors and the constraints of the structures within the actors act in. The one key thing i drew from this reading is how much early monumental archaeology in mesoamerica has developed. I do wish the author included more data, as well as a larger variety of data. For the purpose of this study, the amount and variety of data used is suitable.
