Density, oxygen, no water shortage, pressure. Fish that use water through differential osmotic pressure, may need to drink water. If salinity outside is greater than that of the tissues, than the salinity outside sucks up the water. 71 percent of water is earth"s surface. Ocean: 97%, glaciers 2%, freshwater 1% (1/5 baikal, 1/5 great lakes, 1/5 rift valley lakes africa). 3/5 of freshwater is in these systems of lakes. 2/5 is left for every other lake and atmosphere. The amount of freshwater is very small. The ocean is about 4km deep. Temperature is different, which means oxygen solubility changes, evaporation changes, density of water changes. They do differ because there"s obstacles to what the water and its temperature and chemistry can do. The prevailing winds have an effect on the direction of ocean currents. These currents produce areas that are either warm or cold along the coast. Winds influence currents, currents bring cold or warm water.
