Heracles is never around for his (new) children. Deianira says you shouldn"t judge a person"s life until it is over -> lines are similar to hyroitus"s lines. Sophocles and hyroitus were drinking buddies technically plagiarism. Takes place in trachis, in front of deianira and heracles" house. Deianira knew her life would be sorrowful before she goes to the realm of. Her suitor achelous (a river, not a man) came to her 3 times to ask for her hand in marriage: bull, serpent, man with head of bull. Didn"t want to marry that kind of man. Heracles, son of zeus and alcmene came and fought achelous and won, setting her free. So heracles took deianira as a wife and they had kids, but he was never around and she always worried, he was always serving that damn man" (zeus?) After he killed iphitus they were forced to move and live in trachis.
