Document Summary

Readings 11 chapter 11 (globalization and international communication) The activities and institutions we have defined under mass communication in canada are not and have never been exclusively canadian. Many foreign media (particularly american media) abound in canada. Similarly, canadian communicative practices such as letters and elephones have always been tied international circulation. Globalization has altered our media geography defined as the physical space that any given media organization occupies and seeks to serve. Means that many of us work for companies with operations in a number of countries around the world and that we consume products and services in a global marketplace. Means that governments are increasingly implicated in events that occur well beyond their own borders. This can be through international governing bodies like the un or on their own initiatives. Means that friendships and family ties extend around the world. Also means that on a personal level, we are increasingly implicated in world affairs.
