Disincion among services are not absolute, an individual consumer can use business services such as a lawyer, or bank. A central place has a market area, range, and threshold. There are various types of consumer services: wholesale, retail, hospitality, educaion, and health care. There is a regular patern based on size of setlements, the larger the setlement the more services ofered. Central place theory: explains how services are distributed and why a regular patern of setlements exist.
