3 million canadians - don"t have enough to eat - comprise quality and quantity of food because no access to food through normal channels. "do you have enough food for your family, children, yourself?" "how many times has this happened to you?" Weird because canada has an abundance of food - but we have a problem of access. These 3 million people are poor people. Over 1/2 people on welfare = food insecure, because this welfare program doesn"t even provide enough for people to make ends meet. Although aboriginals and welfare people = very high risk of food insecurity, the 3 million canadians are mostly those who are working. 1/2 of the food insecure people in canada are people who are in the labour force (not on welfare) They"re not making enough money - part-time - low wages. The income transfers from our government aren"t enough.
