Systole: contraction, blood is pumped from the ventricles into the pulmonary and systemic arteries. Thorax: the part of the body btw the neck and abdomen. Cardiac output: volume of blood in each systole (sv) x number of beats per minute. Diastole: the ventricles relax and fill with blood. Ischemia: an inadequate blood supply to an organ or part of the body. Active exercise: repetitive movement of a part of the body as a result of voluntary contraction and relaxation. Passive exercise: the part of the body receiving the exercise is completely relaxed.
